Kerilyn’s Life
I HATE potty-training.
I know that is a strong word, but it’s true. Three of my four children are now
competent users of the toilet but it didn’t happen over night.
Nor did it, like so many of those “stories” you hear, just
take two to three days. In fact, my third child and I battled for a whole
year over the issue. It tried practicing, rewards, bribery, consequences,
read books, ranted and raved, all in vain.
She kept telling me, “I will go on the potty when I am four”.
Well, that didn’t sit well with me! Four is far too old. My daughter
is very capable, smart and mature for her age, .. and may I add…strong-willed,
independent and stubborn?
I have experienced challenges more
difficult than potty training, but his experience taught me a valuable
lesson. Living is life’s greatest
teacher. Be open to be taught and you will learn big lessons in faith,
forgiveness, patience and humility, even from life’s littlest experiences.
Sure, it’s easier to see once you are through the process, but
that’s okay too, as long as you are willing to be taught.
